Mission Statement

The Beresford Area Foundation was created as a not-for-profit tax-exempt organization associated with the South Dakota Community Foundation to serve as a vehicle to create a community savings account to promote the commonwealth of the greater Beresford community. The Foundation’s mission is to create a means to invest the legacy from our past to build a bridge to the future.

The Beresford Area Foundation has announced a recent gift to the Beresford Public School for purchase of an electronic SmartBoard for use by instructor Michelle Andrews’ 4th grade math class. The Beresford Area Foundation is happy to make a gift to the local community that will result in the integration of technology in the Beresford Public School System in an innovative and meaningful manner.

The Beresford Area Foundation also announces that plans are in the works for a challenge grant fund drive. The Beresford Area Foundation has solicited a gift from an anonymous group of donors who will gift a certain pledged amount of dollars in the event that the Beresford community matches that with gifts from community members. Details will be announced in the near future as the plans for the fund drive are made more certain.

The Beresford Area Foundation announces its spring, 2008 fund drive. The Beresford Area Foundation has approximately $10,800 available to gift. The Foundation has already gifted $2,000 of those funds leaving approximately $8,800 available to gift in the 2008 grant cycle. The Foundation is requesting that grant applications be submitted by March 15, 2008. Grants will be made on the criteria set forth on the grant application. Grant application forms are available on our website. It is anticipated that the grants will be funded on or before April 1, 2008.

The Beresford Area Foundation announces that it will be co-sponsoring, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile between the dates of April 21 through April 25. The criteria for participation in the program are that the child’s age is between 0 and 21 and needs dental services. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Program accepts Medicaid, dental insurance, Indian Health Service, and sliding fee scale. No child shall be turned away for inability to pay. If you are interested in participating in the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile you should contact the Beresford Public School at 605-763-5012 for further details. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile will be located at the Beresford Public School South Campus at 305 W. Oak Street between the dates of April 21 through April 25, 2008. The co-sponsors of the Care Mobile are the South Dakota Community Foundation, Delta Dental, McDonald’s Corporation, and the Beresford Area Foundation.
